But, but, but then those poor investment banks would've had to default on all the bad loans, mortgages, and securities they bet on for the sake of profit. Have you no heart, sir?
MMessEnnBeeCee - June 12, 2015, 10:12 am
or one with no demand, business dies.
MMessEnnBeeCee - June 12, 2015, 10:11 am
Wouldn't it be nice if our government decided one day that capitalism should be treated as capitalism. Let businesses live or die on their own without intervention from the government. Make a good product that has demand, you survive. Make a bad product
Cannabal - June 11, 2015, 8:24 pm
In the 20th century, the U.S. started a policy of "go big or go home" farming that focused attention on crops like corn, which is a multifarious resource, but this led to its exploitation by agribusiness companies and thus why it floods the market today.
MMessEnnBeeCee - June 11, 2015, 2:38 pm
I guess the big question is why is it subsidized?
Cannabal - June 11, 2015, 11:28 am
As I said, corn is a subsidized crop, which means that agribusiness has a greater incentive to grow it, and of course, HFCS became a cheap and inexpensive ingredient to produce, especially when it was not subject to tariffs.
MMessEnnBeeCee - June 10, 2015, 4:54 pm
OK, that makes sense.
OTC - June 10, 2015, 12:19 pm
I think he's talking about the higher demand_for sugar created a lower cost for HFCS as the alternative
MMessEnnBeeCee - June 10, 2015, 11:04 am
Wouldn't higher demand result in higher prices?
Cannabal - June 10, 2015, 8:48 am
Corn is a heavily subsidized crop, that's why it became so cheap to grow, manufacture, and process for a number of products, one of them being this disgusting substance. But higher demand for real sugar is the key to lowering its overall price.
calron - June 7, 2015, 2:33 pm
It's too expensive nowadays do to regulations restricting trade. In the past people even imported tea are filtered out the sugar because it was cheaper that US sugar, but that was banned.

bi Ladin was alive and free because Clinton refused to take him when other countries had him in custody 3 times. Obammy had to be dragged into going after him. And it was the SEAL's that got him, NOT Obammy. He was against, but he took credit for it.
Thedewd - August 7, 2016, 12:55 pm
Hmmm...When Obammy was elected, both the House and Senate were Democrat. In '07 when Congress went Dem, unemployment was about 4.7%. The WS bailout was a result of the insurance industry writing dangerous PM policy's.

So look up the volcano's name and when it formed and history along with the date of the station's construction. It is possible it was long dormant or even formed later.
OTC - May 6, 2015, 4:13 pm
Those same scientists that say warming happens before CO2 rises? The same scientists who say CO2 is rising while temperatures have levelled off?
OTC - May 6, 2015, 4:11 pm
Didn't say anything about a conspiracy, I'm sure they placed them near volcanoes to monitor them, but lets not use them to monitor globally. Y U always read what's not there?
fauxnews - May 5, 2015, 8:17 pm
No facts you say, OTC? Just wishful thinking? :-) Why would my bu.ttons be pushed? The scientists agree with me. That pesky 97% consensus you keep denying, remember? ;-) Nice try, ma'am. #projectingforonetrickponies

Speaking of but.tons, sorry I pushed yours, I was just looking for the mute but.ton :)

Tried to push the back b***on to fix a typo before I hit send, two responses become four. Sorry for the spam, mates. I need to do a better job of clearing my browser, that's on me. See #75926 and #75928 for proper continuity. Cheers :-D
fauxnews - May 5, 2015, 3:57 pm
the scientists (you know?the experts?) to use this equipment properly without letting that pesky volcano get in the way. Sometimes I really am convinced you're just parodying deniers. You should re-read your comments sometime.Crack me up, mate.Cheers (2/2)
fauxnews - May 5, 2015, 3:57 pm
More anecdotal denier rubbish. Pretty sure the scientists didn't place this facility near "the volcano" as part of some conspiracy to fix the outcome, which you're implying. They're the experts, you and I are Calron are not. I think we can trust (1/2)

Yeah, local, not global.

It could be a good chance to measure the effects on the local climate.

Hey faux! Glad to see that you are still in the poster making business. How are you doing?
fauxnews - April 12, 2015, 1:49 am
Not a critique of you. If anything, I a**umed you were presenting that quote to poke fun at the Supreme Court. So I offered an a**ist. I've been wanting to do a Highlander theme for awhile. Thought you might be flattered, if nothing else. Cheers mate =D
fauxnews - April 12, 2015, 1:47 am
I figured it wasn't your original idea.I safely a**umed u were sharing the Supreme Court reasoning mostly verbatim. You didnt seem to be advocating it.Either way,the way you presented it made me think "The Highlander".It was inspiration, more than anything
calron - April 12, 2015, 1:36 am
Implausible, but OK Oddly enough, it was used to say refute the idea that life begins at conception. Therefore there is Christian doctrine that says life doesn't begin at conception.
fauxnews - April 12, 2015, 1:33 am
I know. :-) Wasn't parodying you. Was parodying the Supreme Court text. When I heard the word "quickening" I couldn't resist. X-D Cheers mate
